State Issues

“I have no ambition to govern men; it is a painful and thankless office.” – Thomas Jefferson

I’ve never had much interest in politics, and the fact is, I’m still not interested. Thomas Jefferson said, “A politician looks forward only to the next election. A statesman looks forward to the next generation.” I suppose that defines my motivation for getting involved in government. I look at my children and wonder, what kind of future are we leaving them? Will they have any freedoms or opportunities left? I say to myself, “If I have anything to do with it, they will!”

Government’s Role
I will work to reduce the cost, size, and oppressive nature of government at all levels.

Founding Documents
I hold a Jeffersonian view of the Constitution, which means the document is not open to new interpretations that diminish inalienable rights.

Right to Life
I believe life begins at conception and I will do everything I can to protect our unborn children

2nd Amendment
There should be no exclusions to the types of arms peaceable, law abiding American citizens may bear

10th Amendment
I believe the Federal Government has overstepped its bounds and I will use the 10th Amendment and any other means available under the Constitution to help you protect your rights.

I will fight for sound money in Tennessee because some of the greatest threats to our freedom and liberty today are economic.

I pledge that I will do everything I can to reduce the tax burden on Tennessee citizens including never vote for a state income tax.

I will work for freedom, choice, and quality in education

Health Care
I will fight for your freedom to make your own healthcare decisions.

I oppose Cap & Trade and any other energy limiting government system.

I will work to make sure that businesses have reasons to locate and create jobs in Tennessee.

I believe incentives for illegal immigrants must be removed and we should deport illegal immigrants who refuse to embrace the United States as home.
